City of Eastvale Inaugural Celebration Committee Encourages Eastvale Students to Participate in Logo/City Seal Contest
Deadline for entries: September 20, 2010
The City of Eastvale Inaugural Celebration Ad Hoc Committee is taking applications now through September 20, 2010 submitted by Eastvale students in grades K-12. The contest is open to all elementary, middle, and high school students living in Eastvale. Submissions will be judged by the inaugural celebration committee.
First, second, and third place winners will be awarded at each level (elementary, middle, and high school) and will be recognized at Eastvale's Inaugural Event on Friday, October 1st (time to be determined). Each winner will receive awards donated by community businesses. Elements from the winning entries may be considered for incorporating into the City of Eastvale's official seal.
The committee encourages students to look for inspiration through a reflection of Eastvale's history, present time, and how they see Eastvale in the future. Artwork should be circular and fit in an area of about 10" x 10", if hand drawn on paper. Electronic versions should be saved and transmitted for submission via .jpg or .gif format.
The entry form is accessible at www.EastvaleCity.org, located on the City Celebration navigation page. Entries must be postmarked or emailed by Friday, September 20, 2010. In addition to the city's Web site, residents can follow the celebration status via facebook - key word "City-of-Eastvale-Inaugural-Celebration" in facebook's search box.
Winning entries become the property of the City of Eastvale and cannot be returned. Arrangements for the return of other submissions may be requested. All artwork must be the original work of the student submitting the entry. Winners will be notified by September 25th.
Email entries to Deanne DeGrandpre at deanne@ieunderground.com or drop in the mail to Eastvale Celebration Inaugural Committee, c/o Main Street Public Relations, Deanne DeGrandpre, 7056 Archibald Ave., Suite 102-124, Eastvale, CA 92880. Date: Every day (Jul 7-Aug 31) from 10:00am to 11:30pm
Ages: All
Admission Fees: $7 per person, $4 for seniors
California's finest Summer art event is staged in a six-acre canyon park near the ocean in Laguna Beach. The stars of this summertime tradition, which began here in 1932, are over 140 of the Southland's most accomplished artists. This is a rigorously juried show, requiring exhibitors to demonstrate and maintain high aesthetic standards. Their work is truly fine art! The artworks on display are for sale and represent a complete spectrum of art media: paintings, sculpture, pastels, drawings, serigraphs, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, etched and stained glass, fiber arts, handcrafted furniture and even scrimshaw. All of the works are original art - another element that distinguishes the Festival of Arts from other shows. The Festival is the perfect place to find affordable and unique works of art to decorate your home or business.
Daily Art Activities, Events and Exhibitions
In addition to the special events, come and enjoy art workshops, daily docent-led tours offering expert insights to the exhibits, musical entertainment and hands-on demonstrations in printmaking, ceramics, painting and paper art. The Lake Norconian Club Foundation and US Navy would like to invite you to our quarterly Norconian Grounds Cleanup Day.
Saturday - July 10th
8am - 1pm
Visit and help preserve one of the most genuinely beautiful and historic areas in the State - the Lake Norconian Club.
We are looking for any and all able bodied people to help prune, rake, cut, and saw overgrown shrubbery and palm trees to help restore the once pristine Norconian grounds. This will help improve the flow of the man made streams which were built in 1929 and help feed the 50 acre man made Lake Norconian - playground to the rich and famous of Hollywood's golden age.
Past events have shown that people do care for this magnificent property, which you may have seen featured on California's Gold with Huell Howser. Everyone from kids to council members have pitched in to help clear the grounds. We would love to see you there showing your community spirit and pride - and giving a nod to the history of this special site.
Lunch will be provided. All are welcome. Work at your own pace.
Please bring a photo ID to enter the base - please use the entrance at 1999 Fourth Street, Norco, CA 92860
